about 2faced1.com

2FACED1.com shows one persons two different faces in photos;

Persona 1:
WHAT YOU WANT TO BE
CONSIDERED AS

Persona 2:
WHAT YOU FEAR TO BE
CONSIDERED AS

This leads to a discussion about stereotypes and inner fears of getting misunderstood by the surroundings. Thoughts that every thinking modern day person does reflect upon. We're asking every day people from an innercity context where old categories as ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality and class are reassessed, why they choose to look like they do. We’re diggin' deep, peeling off garments, codes and attributes. We’re searching for transnational identities - is the conclusion that we choose whoever we want to be today?!

A 2FACED1 STATE OF MIND

A 2FACED1 is highly aware of existing stereotypes related to your own ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality and class. You’re trying to avoid them but sometimes also play with them to make people think twice about who you are. Two faced doesn’t mean anything negative here, it explains the double folded view you have on identity if you’re not the existing norm. It means you have the feet in different worlds, can move between them but feel rather at home in that space in between. You've stepped out of your comfort zone and have become one of the new identities where ol' categories are mashed up and rootlessness and non-given identity just means major possibilities.

Alexander Golf Wang Kill Them All

Post date Tue 13 Sep 2011 9:24 AM

The whole SS 12 Collection is slightly sprawling but ALEXANDER WANG still shows how remarkable he is, giving the audience what they didn't know they wanted (yet). The monochrome sets are a nice development on what we're used to see as Wang, the flower printed part are less interesting in my book and that's cause it's the sporty striped zipped tights and jackets that really stands out!!! I'm giving bloodred love cause they make me recollect the iconic Adidas dresses released in 93-94, I got a similar one in ma&pa's attic (be sure I will be looking for it)!

Should one get provoked by the way Alexander Wang is doing what could be Y-3 and a high fashion take on HUMMEL, or just think it's funny and totally fearless to use part of their logos as pattern, just the way he want to?! Maybe there should have been something kind of swooshie in the mix too make a vision like that a bit clearer? Anyway Wang is so in my ring corner (or well, the other way around...!) which becomes even more obvious when he books ODD FUTURE for his after party. From what I heard some of the fashion (read queer orientated) crowd got provoced, cause of Tyler and Co's use of language. Yes and they provoce me too. But as the 2FACED1 Alexander Wang is he's on his tip toes and is smelling the revolutionary funk in all the child's play. Part of being a 2FACED1 is to keep the double perspective, in other words, things can be bad in certain ways but still progressive in other ways. I mean I should never have been into the rap game (or any type of male-driven subculture) if I hadn't kept these double angles intact. It doesn't mean things are OK. It's the only way to cope and at the same time rise in a world like this. There's never any simple rules, or any clear black and/or white. Unless we talk about those stripes above.
