about 2faced1.com

2FACED1.com shows one persons two different faces in photos;

Persona 1:
WHAT YOU WANT TO BE
CONSIDERED AS

Persona 2:
WHAT YOU FEAR TO BE
CONSIDERED AS

This leads to a discussion about stereotypes and inner fears of getting misunderstood by the surroundings. Thoughts that every thinking modern day person does reflect upon. We're asking people from an innercity context where old categories as ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality and class are reassessed, why they choose to look like they do. We’re diggin' deep, peeling off garments, codes and attributes. We’re searching for transnational identities - is the conclusion that we choose whoever we want to be today?!

A 2FACED1 STATE OF MIND

A 2FACED1 is highly aware of existing stereotypes related to your own ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality and class. You’re trying to avoid them but sometimes also play with them to make people think twice about who you are. Two faced doesn’t mean anything negative here, it explains the double folded view you have on identity if you’re not the existing norm. It means you have the feet in different worlds, can move between them but feel rather at home in that space in between. You've stepped out of your comfort zone and have become one of the new identities where ol' categories are mashed up and rootlessness and non-given identity just means major possibilities.

New York Fashion Week ss 10

Post date Sun 13 Sep 2009 8:14 PM

New York Fashion Week is ON and I've been taking a look at the more relevant brands for the Lo to the High Eye. There are a couple to come, so stay tuned.

THOM BROWNE

Decida Style favorite Thom Browne kept fucking up classic menswear items, great mixing, conceptual, graphic with strong silouettes as usual. ALEXANDER WANG

Im not suprised Alexander Wang moves towards soft grey and beige and light brown leather after all black, the collection don't make me fall head over heels but is solid, and Wang keeps his Amercian legacy intact. We see the references in both more obvious symbols as baseball bags and headgear, even a version of avarisity jacket, and other more careful in choices of fabric (jersey, work wear fabric) etc. Nice Eyebrows! This guy will stay in top of the American fashion game for the upcoming years! Photos via Coutorture

Y-3

The greatness of Y-3 is never really the actual Collection, cause it is often like a rollercoaster; incredible items teamed up with pretty ugly things that just don't work in the present. No it's the brand in itself, combining the two worlds of Sports Wear and Japanese Avant Garde, that makes us Y-3 heads for life. So as usual pick what you like above, mine is the short suit jacket + pants further down, in a collection which maybe had less goodies than previous year in my opinion.

RICHARD CHAI LOVE

I styled (no I was more of a project manager honestly... there was nearly no time for styling really) swedish LAGOMs AW 09 where designer Nette Sandström did exactly those biker caps in the same fabric as the clothes, Richard Chai Love have a similar cap and a similar color scale as LAGOM, but the silouette is a bit different. The wide shorts and the bright idea with bikershorts beneath is a great mix, so also the double buttoned jackets and the suit jacket with chopped off arms (great D I Y idea!).  More Photos at Coutoreture

MARC JACOBS

Marc Jacobs wanted to move further, this is probably a response to all the black leather and studs, but are we yet ready for the yotal opposite; non-style flounces and romance? I wouldn't say so cause I don't really feel big parts of this Collection in my gut. The ones benaeth are working though, nonchalant layer on layer, tone on tone and less romantic.

MICHAEL ANGEL

Fans of Mary Kantranzou prints will like Michael Angel dresses, soon on a RnB star near you. See more at Coutoreture

PREEN

CHARLOTTE RONSON The Fashion part of the Ronson Clan did a commercial collection, it's a mish mash of details from other designers that were big this Spring/Summer, wearable yes, but don't think we can wait until next summer for this, it feels a bit to late. See here

JILL STUART Same problem as Ronson, wearable stuff for NOW but nothing we haven'y seen before See here

LACOSTE Whole lotta Klein Blue, but really few good looks. See here

L.AM.B. is back but don't deliver at all, no distinctive idea of what they want to deliver. In past collections they at least had the current Image of Gwen to use. See here

Band Of Ousiders got some nice kicks but Im afraid that's it this time. See here

DKNY Something for my moms.... wtf happened to DKNY the last years? See here
