SELDA BAGCAN
Bless Oh No and his bro for being the beatmaking Gods that they are. Oh No is fun, "Exodus into Unheard Rhythms" he only samples Galt MacDermot, "Dr No's Oxperiment" is inspired by and sampled from Turkish, Lebanese, Italian, and Greek psychedelic rock. His latest masterpiece "Ethiopium" is inspired by and sampled from rare 60s and 70s Ethiopian funk, jazz, folk, soul and psychedelic rock.
How fun is that? When everyone is rushing to next hype thing Mr Oh No sits down and obsesses with one influence and makes albums out of it. I love concepts and I love red threads but most of all I love Oh No. So on Dr No's Oxperiment Oh No samples one of Turkeys most outspoken politically singers; anadolu protest singer Selda. Selda is so cool and I find it very very very complicated to describe her style but I came across one description: "Space age, Anatolian, electronic, progressive-protest, psych-folk-funk-rock from the Middle East". Tickles huh?
