about 2faced1.com

2FACED1.com shows one persons two different faces in photos;

Persona 1:
WHAT YOU WANT TO BE
CONSIDERED AS

Persona 2:
WHAT YOU FEAR TO BE
CONSIDERED AS

This leads to a discussion about stereotypes and inner fears of getting misunderstood by the surroundings. Thoughts that every thinking modern day person does reflect upon. We're asking every day people from an innercity context where old categories as ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality and class are reassessed, why they choose to look like they do. We’re diggin' deep, peeling off garments, codes and attributes. We’re searching for transnational identities - is the conclusion that we choose whoever we want to be today?!

A 2FACED1 STATE OF MIND

A 2FACED1 is highly aware of existing stereotypes related to your own ethnicity, color, nationality, gender, sexual orientation and class. You’re trying to avoid them but sometimes also play with them to make people think twice about who you are. Two faced doesn’t mean anything negative here, it explains the double folded view you have on identity if you’re not the existing norm. Self awareness is a gift, because it also helps you to understand other peoples situations better. To be a 2FACED1 is to have the feet in different worlds, be able to move between them but feel rather at home in that space in between. You've stepped out of your comfort zone and has become one of the new identities where ol' categories are mashed up and rootlessness and non-given identity just means major possibilities.

2FACED1-Certified Rap

Post date Fri 31 Aug 2012 8:45 AM

Every fan of hardcore rap should have been there yesterday. You know me - always had a soft spot for dem hardcore rappers since way back. Hence I happen to be one of the 30+ ladies who in the right mood would be body slaming at any OF, or ONYX, concert.

Imagine then the pleasentness of going nuts to 2FACED1-certified rap, cause o'boy, there is a huge difference in going stupid to the sound of a stereotypophobe like Mykki Blanco, compered to any straight, masculine, agressive stereotype.

P.S. For those complaining over the lack of struggle and politics in present Hiphop, you need to look in the right places.

The NYC-gang has been going on about Mykki for quite a while, and I'm so glad I got to experience him live + the randomly randomness in running in to the 2FACED1-sweetheart down town during daytime yesterday, hopefully he'll be back soon so Do The Dabo can hit the concert with us!

Robyn's Custom Carhartt Coat

Post date Wed 29 Aug 2012 8:39 AM

More than one and a half year later, finally a spot on the customized Carhartt jacket I and designer Julia Hederus created for Robyn. Robyn used it for the epic Radio City Music Hall concert Feb 2011 in New York City. We gave the jacket a slimmer fit, used a plastic material in the middle of it to show off more figure. Remade the arms (see the bend of the arm), and made up a pattern on the fabric (you see it above the pockets), voilá - a hotter version of the classic Chore Coat!

For me it's a tribute to rappers like the iconic BO$$.

New York Times 1992

In the late 1980's, crack dealers, who also spend a lot of time outdoors, discovered the Carhartt. "They needed to keep warm and they needed to carry a lot of stuff," said Steven J. Rapiel, the New York City salesman for Carhartt. "Then the kids saw these guys on the street, and it became the hip thing to wear."

La Pedrera

Randomly read an, not necessary to name, interior magazine one of the days on the beach. All white people in all white interiors - these magazines uncritically reproduce an upper-middle class dream that one are supposed to desire, to get "with the scheme". Since when did design get so brain dead? Thank god I took a trip to Gaudí's more than a hundred old buildings and remembered that you can dedicate yourself to any subject and do it the proper, progressive way (well it takes some genius to do it like the Gaudí...) - or just be a dumb ass.

ps. har ej kuk fast det så ser ut, dock väl stake som balls!

Fatima played me this track on a bus on our way from Dalston to Mile End a couple of months ago, I was like "damn girl you sound sexy" Fatima was like "yeahyeahyeah", but oh yes she does and now it's finally released! And from what I know a video should be on it's way! Below is a rip from radio, you can probably cop the tune on itunes in a couple of days. London heads: Phonica Launch

Kelow In Stockholm!

Post date Fri 13 Jul 2012 11:37 AM

Tomorrow you have the possibility to see someone that most likely is going to blow sooner or later. It's Ms KELOW all the way from Maryland, that's coming to Freshet at Kulturhusets tak. I recommend you to not miss this!

And since this is the Decida Style Blog, the usual dip dive into the style pf this #Stylosopher:

Photos via Kelows Tumblr

Kelow's latest releases are on a 90's vibe with some samples I heard too many times (but that's just me being so damn old!). Even though I enjoy her flowing over them, I stick to my favorites, two videos from last year. Find more music + downloads here.

Not to forget: her version of no other than my ms Robyn's Cobra Style, check the Press Buttons video over here!
