about 2faced1.com

2FACED1.com shows one persons two different faces in photos;

Persona 1:
WHAT YOU WANT TO BE
CONSIDERED AS

Persona 2:
WHAT YOU FEAR TO BE
CONSIDERED AS

This leads to a discussion about stereotypes and inner fears of getting misunderstood by the surroundings. Thoughts that every thinking modern day person does reflect upon. We're asking every day people from an innercity context where old categories as ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality and class are reassessed, why they choose to look like they do. We’re diggin' deep, peeling off garments, codes and attributes. We’re searching for transnational identities - is the conclusion that we choose whoever we want to be today?!

A 2FACED1 STATE OF MIND

A 2FACED1 is highly aware of existing stereotypes related to your own ethnicity, color, nationality, gender, sexual orientation and class. You’re trying to avoid them but sometimes also play with them to make people think twice about who you are. Two faced doesn’t mean anything negative here, it explains the double folded view you have on identity if you’re not the existing norm. Self awareness is a gift, because it also helps you to understand other peoples situations better. To be a 2FACED1 is to have the feet in different worlds, be able to move between them but feel rather at home in that space in between. You've stepped out of your comfort zone and has become one of the new identities where ol' categories are mashed up and rootlessness and non-given identity just means major possibilities.

Premier: The Ocean!

Post date Fri 1 Mar 2013 12:12 AM

It's here! The Fader just released the video for the 2FACED1-project, the short film The Ocean, wich of course also is the new single by Saturday, Monday featuring Julia Spada. Maceo Frost and Robin Günther took Bianca and Dennis to the island of Öland, yes you've seen Jasmin's pictures - those beautiful, cold Öland days.

Take a listen, the song is so beautiful, Julia's vocals are splendid and the universial tale of letting go is something all of us have our own private backdrop to.

Vivid Times

Post date Thu 11 Oct 2012 5:35 PM

We are going through pretty vivid times in Sweden at the moment, the way I see it the last piece of the intersectionality puzzle: the discussion about racism and Swedish exceptionalism, is finally starting, slowly, making it's way up on the official Sweden's agenda. Soon we can start working through things for realZ!

Had a coffee with Mr Timbuktu yesterday, agreeing on the fact how it's a good thing when people show their true colors and most of all; a lot of good folks you didn't know about, stepping up. Timbuk has done one of my favorite Swedish rap songs ever "Jag Drar" (2002) (basically "I'm Out"), it nails the ambivalent feeling I've had in the back of my head since I turned eighteen and could move, more or less. I travel but the base is still Sweden. So I suppouse that means we need to keep stepping and get those changes made here. Now.

Oivvio Polite's nifty timeline including all articles concerning the debate in Sweden on Racism, Tintin, Wirsén etc. Extra Highlights on:

- Ylva Habel, Scholar and Lecturer, Media & Communications, who we invited for the Black Face panel talk has written an extremely important piece about Sweden in SvD. It sums up pretty much everything that we have been talking about as problematic with this country. A MUST READ for all Swedes (hopefully we can get a sort of translation sooner or later) "Den Svenska vithetens blinda fläck".

- My old soccer pal and style icon Lawen Mothadi finally releases "Den dag jag blir fri", a book about the iconic activist Katarina Taikon, telling another story of Sweden. Lawen is also the person behind this brilliant piece " Varför hånas de kritiska rösterna?"

- Extra <3 to our 2FACED1-bro Nathan Hamelberg in Nya Vågen (Radio) who's breaking down something very personal on one hand, in a carefully prepared vocuabulary, for the ones who don't understand, to understand.

PS: It's Friday: The first official 2FACED1 Alexander Salzberger created Surdegshotellet together with a bunch of other stars for P1 Godmorgon, världen! If you missed it this summer listen here . FUNNY as hell!

Do you think I forgot all about the style in the tagline? 2FACED1's Oscar Stenberg provided me with some new press-photos, here they come:

Music Video / Film Director Needed

Post date Tue 24 Apr 2012 9:49 AM

2FACED1 is doing a whole lotta fun stuff at the moment. Right now I'm looking for an extremely sharp collaborative well-renowned Music Video / Film Director that could work tight together with me for a pretty unique music video/short film. This person should fully understand the 2FACED1-idea (perspectives), and preferable be based in London and have experience and being very good at working with kids too. Hit me up with a mail if that's you or recommendation if you know her / him at decidastyle @ gmail.com

- David, are you reading my blog?

2FACED1 presents Alex Dabo!

Post date Wed 11 Jan 2012 6:12 PM

Finally!!! The new site is done! Step over to the really important thing about 2FACED1.com, and meet the Intern like you never seen him before. Feel free to share!

2FACED1.com Presents a New 2FACED1 - Fifteen Year Old Alex Dabo

2FACED1.com - the home of the stereotypophobes, has repainted the (non-existing) walls and expanded. The journey through modern day identities, subcultures and stereotypes continues along with the search of transnational identities.

2FACED1.com is therefore thrilled by the release of the next “2FACED1” - Alex Dabo. This fifteen year old proves that growing up with a laptop instead of a cuddly toy luckily hasn’t made all kids into Anders Behring Breivik clones. As Alex puts it: “Just because you’re a kid doesn’t mean you’re not able to think”. He breaks it down simple, why style is essential in a world not yet free from prejudice against things like the color of your skin. After meeting Alex we believe in the youth again!

Click over to the new site and discover Alex’s two faces:

Persona One; what he wants to be considered as

Persona Two; what he fears to be considered as

When I was 17: Robyn

Post date Sat 19 Nov 2011 9:15 PM

Life of a 2FACED1 growing up in Sweden! I didn't know Robyn back here, I knew of her but I didn't know her. But we had a lot of similarities going on, even if I had the regualr teen time and was only dreaming of going to New York...! Stay tuned to see what superstar had a crush on the 17 year old Robyn haha (I'm still waiting for the Swedish tabloids to do a poster of this?!) and see more of life was for the 17 year old Robyn feat. Robyn's long time friend Lojsan among others! MTV US: When I Was 17 below:

Sneak Peak of the upcoming 2FACED1!

Post date Fri 9 Sep 2011 11:01 AM

NÖJESGUIDEN's new Fashion Editor Sanna Samuelsson stopped by the office in August and had an chat with me about the upcoming re-release of 2FACED1 2.0.  (yeah it's on it's waaaay!). and we gave a sneak preview of the upcoming 2FACED1-person we'll be presenting: Alex Darbo. Swedes can read the full article here, and Alex as you can see is very stoked over this! (The headline should of course be "De sterotypofobas hemvist".) Here follows a small part of it translated to English:

"House of the Stereotypophobes"

N: Sometimes one can be jealous over how many white middle- class guys never has been obligated to be aware how how other people sees them...
D:That's part of the problem. Many of them are saying" yeah, but I'm never thinking about how other people look at me" , which makes you want to answer " but why don't you think you doesn't do that?". They just don't need to. BUT there are a bunch of white middle class dudes that are 2FACED1s too! Those who took a step out of their comfort zone and refused to fulfill the idea of "the white man". It's the journey to something new that makes you a 2FACED1 - not your starting point.

N: It's a good thing that the inflicted self-awareness could be looked upon as a benefit...
D: That's the future! How prosperous can one really become without caring about other people? It won't work in the long run, and with the Internet the society becomes more transparent too. You better clean up your act!

Enough talking now, all 2FACED1s let's get to work and get this site + collective going on! If you think you should be a part of the team see this -> 2FACED1 NEEDS YOU (Esp London assistants needed, new project in London is coming up in October/November)

2FACED1 is a transnational movement with popculture as the collective language. We work in a popcultural context (Web - the 2FACED1 project, Music Videos, Performance/Stage Art, Advertising, Image, Fashion/Street Wear) and have a common foundation in wanting to discourage prejudices related to race, nationality, sex and/or class. 2FACED1 is expanding! A new site is on it's way and the Collective of 2FACED1s behind it needs you!
We are looking for more members to our team.
