about 2faced1.com

2FACED1.com shows one persons two different faces in photos;

Persona 1:
WHAT YOU WANT TO BE
CONSIDERED AS

Persona 2:
WHAT YOU FEAR TO BE
CONSIDERED AS

This leads to a discussion about stereotypes and inner fears of getting misunderstood by the surroundings. Thoughts that every thinking modern day person does reflect upon. We're asking every day people from an innercity context where old categories as ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality and class are reassessed, why they choose to look like they do. We’re diggin' deep, peeling off garments, codes and attributes. We’re searching for transnational identities - is the conclusion that we choose whoever we want to be today?!

A 2FACED1 STATE OF MIND

A 2FACED1 is highly aware of existing stereotypes related to your own ethnicity, color, nationality, gender, sexual orientation and class. You’re trying to avoid them but sometimes also play with them to make people think twice about who you are. Two faced doesn’t mean anything negative here, it explains the double folded view you have on identity if you’re not the existing norm. Self awareness is a gift, because it also helps you to understand other peoples situations better. To be a 2FACED1 is to have the feet in different worlds, be able to move between them but feel rather at home in that space in between. You've stepped out of your comfort zone and has become one of the new identities where ol' categories are mashed up and rootlessness and non-given identity just means major possibilities.

Cirque Du Soleil - The Immortal Tour

Post date Mon 5 Nov 2012 10:12 PM

The expectations were sky high:

The Music: The Michael Jackson
The Company: The World Renomened Cirque De Soleil, which equals expectations on amazing scenography, costumes, acrobats, yes basically the full package of what a big scale show should be like.
The Dancers: Salah as a main character, a person I know and has seen progress into the most amazing dancer and artist through the years: One of very few who has an own personality + skills enough to star in a show about the great and now late Michael Jackson, and a person who could pull off a Vegas show on the right side of the line. Also add other prominent dancers as the Twins.
The hype: My inevitable concert partner and huge MJ fan; Mela, full of stories of the amazing show in Vegas a year earlier.

The reality:

Amazing acrobats, great scenography, and an over all concept that would have worked perfectly as the frame IF the dancers in it would have been artist to the full extent.
That was NOT the case, I can nearly believe what I saw; sloppy, un-engaged and so far from on-point dancers. No Salah, no Twins. I could have done with tired acrobats, but dancers, dancers?! Michael Jackson was D A N C E embodied, he was timing, he was a perfectionist. This would make Mr Jackson turn in his grave.

Because Michael Jackson's music should be, and I'm sure will be, hailed as culture on a world heritage scale. With that comes responsibility if one are about to set up the biggest tribute show in the world. I don't think there is many music pieces that means so much for folks under the age of, say 50. Innumerable people all over the world have such a strong relation to his music and artistry, to turn the privilege to have the rights of using MJ's name and music into something this sloppy, dancing wise, as this, even if just in Sweden -it's just not acceptable. I might sound harsh but this becomes a disgrace to his memory, and the perfectionism he stood for.

Below is the trailer. at least featering Salah and the Twins.

P.S. The rumour says Salah signed off two weeks ago, on this level replace him with another artist with his/her own style, not a watered down copy.

When The Quiet Comes

Oh my so amazingly beautiful! Kahlil Joseph and Storyboard are creating pure magic to music from the upcoming Flying Lotus album, here featuring Erykah Badu. Storyboard lived in Stockholm a couple of months this winter, we talked about doing something together on film, but just couldn't find the time. Well you all realize how stupid that was right..This talented artist got a real drive and will be going places, keep them art pieces coming!

Big Daddy Kane

Post date Mon 11 Jun 2012 2:26 PM

Well finally an opportunity to post this picture of Big Daddy Kane from Playgirl hahaha! (Not to forget about BDK in Madonnas SEX book...)

Matter of fact I Saw King Asiatic Nobody's Equal live in Tokyo in December 2010 and was pretty schocked over his level of energy, it might get pretty hype over at Strand tomorrow. See you there!

If this was 1990 he would have had the legendary dancers Scoob and Scrap Luva with him!

Show Time @ Selfridges

Post date Tue 8 May 2012 3:38 PM

I created a performance for Selfridges and Swedish Hasbeens in Mars, featuring some amzing dancers and gymnasts from both Sweden, London and Australia! Above you se Therese who's not here for her good looks - the girl is multiple Swedish Champion in Rythmic Gymnastics, below Voguer/ Waacker Bianca, Circus-artis Rhiannon and the dancers! As dim as it might sound - I don't have video of this...But Pernilla said she became teary-eyed so you'll have to trust her nerve for sentimentality hehe! Music once again maestro Jocke Åhlund and I'm also thanking superassistant Jonas, Hair-Herman, Make-Lou and assistants for a great contribution!

Taran Killam of Saturday Night Live (formely on Scrubs among other coms), came to our backstage room at SNL's Thursday rehearsals, to tell us about his "Call Your Girlfriend" experience! Many have tried but few have re-created the moves and expression with such a passion. And then I haven't even started raving about  the space he's doing it on!!!! You see it below!

The comparison!

Hello!

The Outlaws at the University of Michigan Law School (the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender student group) decided to recreate your fabulous choreography from Robyn's "Call Your Girlfriend" video. You can see the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68KTCjZkbtM
The performance was done as part of the Law School's Annual Culture Show. We are HUGE fans of Robyn & the work that you have done with her. Thank you for making such an amazing video that continues to inspire us.
Cheers,
Ben

Fast Stop In Copenhagen

Post date Sun 4 Sep 2011 9:22 PM

Took a quickie to Copenhagen earlier this week. I had the opportunity to see FLYING BACH, a new project where Breaking (an updated Flying Steps crew) meets Bach, and surprisingly enough Baroque music, which I usually feel pretty annoyed by, suited perfectly to the artform of B-boying. The show displayed the many similiarities, as I mentioned before, between the very technical dance styles of ballet and breaking. For the experienced breaking connoisseur it was, choreograpie-wize, more of an best of, than extremly innovative but the audience in Copenhagen loved it. From my point of view was J-Sun, who really felt Bach's music and made it his own, the top pick. This show is sponsored by Redbull and might appear in Sweden in the future.

Had also to privilige to lurk around in the city with Copenhagen native, Maria Kai (notice her Vibe Harsloef 3 finger ring), we did fast stops at a relocated WOODWOOD, Vibskov and the rest of the Danish designers, (missed out on Sllas US IMPORT though). I'd always had a good eye toward a lot of Danish design but at the moment I'm somewhat incurious of the homespun preppieness some of them bring. I didn't really return home with anything in my backpack, even though WOODWOOD had an Carhartt jeans jacket collabo with Japanese SOPHNET that I was close to adopt, also add that many of the vintage shops had a great supply of jewelry.

We walked past a Café called THE LOG LADY you know I'm a huge TWIN PEAKs fan!

Everywhere I went I saw the cover of KOPENHAVNER Magazine with naked KIDD "U-MATIC 1986 VAGINAVEJ" on the cover, and there is a lot of talk going on too... Danish TV2 did a special on him and KESI: "Möd fremtidens rapstjerner" earlier in August.

The upcoming week we'll be bizzy meeting loads of interesting people, yep, we're looking for the new members of the 2FACED1 team! if you are curious about who we need -> more info here: 2FACED1 NEEDS YOU!
