about 2faced1.com

2FACED1.com shows one persons two different faces in photos;

Persona 1:

Persona 2:

This leads to a discussion about stereotypes and inner fears of getting misunderstood by the surroundings. Thoughts that every thinking modern day person does reflect upon. We're asking every day people from an innercity context where old categories as ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality and class are reassessed, why they choose to look like they do. We’re diggin' deep, peeling off garments, codes and attributes. We’re searching for transnational identities - is the conclusion that we choose whoever we want to be today?!

A 2FACED1 is highly aware of existing stereotypes related to your own ethnicity, color, nationality, gender, sexual orientation and class. You’re trying to avoid them but sometimes also play with them to make people think twice about who you are. Two faced doesn’t mean anything negative here, it explains the double folded view you have on identity if you’re not the existing norm. Self awareness is a gift, because it also helps you to understand other peoples situations better. To be a 2FACED1 is to have the feet in different worlds, be able to move between them but feel rather at home in that space in between. You've stepped out of your comfort zone and has become one of the new identities where ol' categories are mashed up and rootlessness and non-given identity just means major possibilities.

Have you learned it yet? Okay, now let's do it the other way around! As Mary said: it's the Swedish version of the lyrics....! And we're waiting for fan-versions on YouTube!!! Remember expression is more important than moves!

The Swedish National Day pt 1

Post date Mon 6 Jun 2011 5:05 PM

MATILDA SANDSTRÖM at DT has written apprehensivly about 2FACED1 and I'm really enjoying the journey to the daily papers cultural pages, even if it's maybe not our main arena!

" MATILDAS STATE OF MIND: Modern nationalromantik

Dalarna i Sverige i världen. Världen i Sverige i Dalarna.

I won't translate it all but it's about what Swedish identity actually means today. And you already know my point of VIEW.

Also Johan Wirfält at RODEO has written readable about the 2FACED1 state of mind - he just don't know it yet! (And it looks like he don't know somebody choreographed "Call Your Girlfriend" or did the Timb/platform with a certain symbol value (#Stylosopher) in mind either, but that's life of being back of the scenes. I won't complain cause I just love it when it's in another 2FACED1s shadow, especially someone as brillant as ROBYN!) Go read now.

Call Your Girlfriend pt. 3

Post date Fri 3 Jun 2011 5:55 PM

So this was the reason I was in L.A. Didn't really know what Max (Vitali) and Robyn had in mind when I flew in but we just sat down and thought of what we could to, what we felt like doing, and in what way we could communicate it. So I got into the dance studio, ate/shitted/slept dance for a couple of days. When I choreograph for ROBYN I always take my starting point in her body/movements, the moves are improvised then put into a loose schedule of movements. It's not meant to be complex, it's just meant to be one with the music (and is also why I prefer to not watch the clip on youtube - youtube never fully syncs audio and video, totally disturbing) and don't look like it's die-hard choreographed, rather by heart - in the moment.

Just to make a couple of things clear, yes she's doing her version of an Electric Slide, a dance that often is a part of wedding celebration wich is, yes kind of cocky, but that is exactlly how sure she is about this guy...noooow it's meeee and yoooou! And it's not Tecktonik in the break, if it needs a label it's rather old school RAVE dancing UK - style #1989

We didn't plan to do an one take video but on the set we realized pretty soon that it would work, thank's to Robyn's artistic expression (that makes her the performer she is) and also a lot thank's to our Camera man, the Director Of Photography Crille Forsberg's work, and of course Director Max s trust in all involved. He kind of danced himself, with Robyn, to capture the whole piece!

This is no doubt one of the most pleasant videos I've done and I'm really proud of the result. Feel priviliged to work with so much great people!

So I bet you want to know about the clothes too. Robyn was pretty sure on what she wanted clothingwise. She wanted to keep the silouette we've created for the tour also in this video. Stylist Scott Clark jumped in on short notice and fixed a new pink version of the Timb platforms wich suited a pair of JEREMY SCOTT's leggings and Robyn's own fluffy RODEBJER top. Everything matching the amazing floor in the studio!

Can't Keep Up

Post date Sun 24 Apr 2011 11:04 AM

Okay. I starting to realize I probably wont keep up with posting all-things-I'm-working-with-Robyn-related if I don't start a specific Robyn blog... Most of the swedes + the fans knows about the Robyn documentary and the concert that was aired a week ago in Sweden, and you outlandish can find it on youtube by now.

And the 2FACED1 project sure needs it's attention too, and since it's more people than me involved (not to mention all people who actually ARE 2FACED1s without even knowing it yet!!!).

Could never imagine somebody would make a gif out of this haha, i'm lipsyncing to an old house anthem if U may wonder- it's from a clip that never made it to he "Hang With Me" video (thank God for that!). Swiped of This Is Appalling

Kicker 4 Life! (Earrings: incredible french 60's brand, working in plexiglass and native stone, I caaaan't remember the name)

Robyn Style: The Muscle Tights

Post date Thu 14 Apr 2011 5:38 PM

Artist DENNIS DA MENDEZ' SEHLIN's contribution to the ROBYN Body Talk Collection is a pair of leggings handpainted in shimmery bronze color on our muscle theme cause we like meaty thangs...! Pretty incredible, right?

Scandalous enough - how could I forget to mention that this same DENNIS actually happens to be the love interest of DANCING ON MY OWN, making out with "the other" girl!!! (see also BEHIND THE SCENES)

I joined Robyn's EURO Tour in the middle of mars, had a great day in BERLIN stopped by Kai @ the STARSTYLING shop, met up with (BI)JULES briefly, and of course ended up at BERGHAIN. Kept also track of ROBYN's live set and brought some nice gear from PARIS to her, above you see a Gaultier tank top and vintage earrings. Click on the photos further down to see FRIDA SETH'S tights on the GETTY Images.
