about 2faced1.com

2FACED1.com shows one persons two different faces in photos;

Persona 1:
WHAT YOU WANT TO BE
CONSIDERED AS

Persona 2:
WHAT YOU FEAR TO BE
CONSIDERED AS

This leads to a discussion about stereotypes and inner fears of getting misunderstood by the surroundings. Thoughts that every thinking modern day person does reflect upon. We're asking every day people from an innercity context where old categories as ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality and class are reassessed, why they choose to look like they do. We’re diggin' deep, peeling off garments, codes and attributes. We’re searching for transnational identities - is the conclusion that we choose whoever we want to be today?!

A 2FACED1 STATE OF MIND

A 2FACED1 is highly aware of existing stereotypes related to your own ethnicity, color, nationality, gender, sexual orientation and class. You’re trying to avoid them but sometimes also play with them to make people think twice about who you are. Two faced doesn’t mean anything negative here, it explains the double folded view you have on identity if you’re not the existing norm. Self awareness is a gift, because it also helps you to understand other peoples situations better. To be a 2FACED1 is to have the feet in different worlds, be able to move between them but feel rather at home in that space in between. You've stepped out of your comfort zone and has become one of the new identities where ol' categories are mashed up and rootlessness and non-given identity just means major possibilities.

A Recap

Post date Fri 28 Jan 2011 8:29 PM

Ojojoj, Decida's been doing double shifts lately, thereof the lousy activity on le blog. But I am, together with the army of 2FACED1s, preparing a party for all you all, see it as a make up and say you'll be there. Date is 110202, invite is in your email inbox, if not yet - soon. And for the non-Stockholmers I wish I could stream it, but I'll give you snippets of the best parts afterwards. Rodeo Magazine got the scoop, read it here.

Also very thankful: Nöjesguiden nominated me for the Stockholm Fashion of the Year Prize here . (Photo Shaon Chakraborty)

Last Saturday: P3 GULD. Robyn wanted to do something else on TV when she got the chance, so I started developing a stage performance for We Dance To The Beat/DFTMWTD. You see it posted  further down. We felt like teenagers in the dance studio and had a lot of fun, as usual we could have given it a little bit more time...but that's just never happen! Down in Göteborg where the event took place I also had the privilege to meet Robyn's mum, the actor /Theater Boss Maria! I’m just saying: she knows her stages and she totally loved the performance, that was what mattered the most! The P3 Guld team did a nice production (on short notice too), but I can't help to leek at American TV production and their experience in catching performances. They have such a tradition in capturing stage qualities. But I’m fully satisfied anyhow! This was such a long day, we had some minor clothing problems but decided to see the performance as a no 1 and just go for thing that was great working out in!

What you above is Robyn’s own old XULU BËT dress from about -95 (her mum remembered it!) a perfect mach to the platform Timbs and the see-trough fabric. Plus we just had a couple of minutes to change after Robyn got her last prize/before her performance so it was the best option! Then on stage Robyn had a new white painted jeans jacket together with the velvet brown/black tights (JPN) and black velvet body (re-edited American Apparel)....show em hips! Don’t sleep on the new transparent Martens with white socks in them that I’ve done, you'll see them on tour! Next up is a pair of Alexander McQueen tights Naomi laid her hands on for Robyn!

Yes and well, Robyn won three prizes, among them The Golden Mic of best live performer 2010, the one I'm most proud of!

The Most Stylish Musicans 2010: no 9

Post date Thu 13 Jan 2011 9:42 PM

Along with Florence & The Machine, Janelle Monae, KanYe West,  Erykah Badu, Rhianna, Gaga and Nicki Minaj (!) Robyn became one of the most stylish musician during 2010 according to MSN Entertainment USA!!! I'm sooo appreciating this cause when reading their motivation it comes clear that they really understands what we're trying to do here! Robyn is an unique artist and we're creating an unique style for/with her, simple as that, if you didn't get it before you get it now, girl's in good company! PLUS they are mentioning the customade PHILIP VAN DE ROQ piece as "Most Memorable Style Moment"!

"Signature look: Soul Train-era Rosie Perez goes to Scandinavia.

Memorable style moment: For the past decade Robyn has bucked the pop trend toward reinvention with a consistent array of tough but feminine D.I.Y. styles. She accentuated her impeccable ear for pop melody at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards with a dangly Philip van de Roq earpiece."

It's Just Another Of Them Robyn Posts

Post date Tue 14 Dec 2010 6:50 PM

Rob is back in Sweden, this is from yesterdays Svenska Hjältar-galan. I suggest you watch it here instead, since the You Tube video always is slightly off beat from the audio. She wears a ACNE patent top, I don't think they put it in production though(?). I totally adore this one and I think it suits Robyn's colors spot on! Thank's ACNE for fixing the size on such a short notice! The green/white silky tights are kind of kitschy but in the rightful way, bought them in Tokyo. Perfect earrings to green tights (you don't really see the color here), are classic coral branch earrings, beautiful but they always need to be in the right context - if you don't wanna look like a artsy-fartsy 50+ lady. Cuffs from Zanzlöza Zmycken. to apply some patina. Add the new pair of customized Martens Naomi did for the Nobel Prize (btw PPvdR up in this peace biaaatch!), in the same spirit as the platform Timbs I did. Damn Robyn is taller then me nowadays!

And my green ring I've gotten from Selam!

We Dance To Your Beat

Post date Tue 14 Dec 2010 2:41 PM

Mary from Blip Boutique and John Belin from Dinahmoe are the minds behind the amazing WE DANCE TO THE BEAT - project, let's call it ROBYN's Interactive Beat Machine! What I want you to do first and foremost is to go and make your own beat, with us dancing to it here.

This is not a video, it is a completely interactive site that offers fans the possibility to control over 100+ video clips and
sounds simultaneously. The sounds are the parts of Robynʼs song “We Dance to the Beat”. Each user can
search through the massive grid of video/sound clips and choose their own group of sights & sounds. They
can then interact with the clips to manipulate the images and transform the sounds, in perfect sync with the
beat. The interactions are stored and repeated, letting the user build patterns and rhythms in real-
time. They can then publish their creation to an even larger, ever-evolving stream of unique user-created
beats. It is a real-time/interactive/music/video remix beat machine.

My part of the project was to scout a bunch of dancers, I should have done the styling too, but we realize we were on a too tight schedule for there to be any particular styling. Anyhow, Mary wanted us to dress in one color each, so that's why me and Anton look like we do! Later on Dennis, Bianca, Fredrik, Viggan, Maele and Nicole showed up in Jakob's North Kingdom studio, thank's guys for taking part in this project! And to Linn for assisting!

Anton

We dance to the beat of the continents shifting under our feet
We dance to the beat of a new, better, faster breed
We dance to the beat of radioactivity blocking the exits
We dance to the beat of false math and unrecognised genius
We dance to the beat of distorted knowledge passed on
We dance to the beat of a distant rumble

We dance to the beat of silent mutation
We dance to the beat of your brain not evolving fast enough
We dance to the beat of raw talent wasted
We dance to the beat of bad kissers clicking teeth
We dance to the beat of opportunity knocking
We dance to the beat of an eviction next door

Of another recycled rebellion
Of consolidating assets
Of another crowd losing it
Of your voice breaking up in static
Of suburbia burning
Of communication gone mad

We dance to the beat of a billion charges of endorphin
We dance to the beat of a love lost and then won back
We dance to the beat of source code and conjuring
We dance to the beat of gravity giving us a break

The Robyn Destroyer X Indestructible Jacket!

Post date Mon 6 Dec 2010 4:49 PM

Robyn has always had a love for casual men's jackets so I thought we'd create a special Varsity one for her BODY TALK tour. Me and Mens Wear Designer Julia Hederus (thank's to Teres Sehlberg!), the woman behind HEDERUS and also the K-Swiss Hederus sneaker, got together and started planning. I told Julia about the Robyn Style anno 2010, the color scale, the fabrics, the feel and the deal, and Julia came up with a couple of sketches. We decided for one and then Julia started out with a plain grey NIKE Destroyer Varsity jacket for some serious Robyn cutomization! The turquoise arms were removed for these new dubbel folded ones, the jacket was shortened and the straps added. Then Julia cut out the silver letters, reminiscent of Robyn's old silver signature jacket from the 90's, herself. Some patches, and the stories that go with them, are still to be added when Rob and the jacket will return to Stockholm!

The pants here are done by Diagnos (a.k.a. our dear Gypsie's Mega Trip moma Linn!) also especially for Robyn 2010!

MTV on the Robyn STYLE!

Post date Tue 23 Nov 2010 11:26 AM

Mtv just spotlighted Robyn's Stage Styles (thank's to RobynBodyTalk on twitter who keeps me updated!) ! They listed some of my own favorites too! Only thing they didn't see the Philip Van De Roq earpice at VMA's, that's the really, really heavy thing in that style ;).  As I said before it's about simplicity, smart twists on classic items like a cut out jeans jacket, everything is supposed to go with everything etc. Robyn's main focus is on her performance not clothing.

(Wait a bit and I'm a tell you about the Nike Varsity Jacket you see over at MTV, Julia Hederus created it after my Robyn bye-laws!)

Another one of the D.I.Y. Robyn styles; here is the white version of the jeans-pocket-thingy I did. Just cut out the pockets of a pair of White 501s, wash 'em, use it over your tights! Then we have the beloved ACNE biker, under it's a chooped emerald green WOOD WOOD tee in thin cotton. The killer stiletto earrings comes from danish designer Vibe Harsloef. Lady is smashing in these bright colors!

"She's one of our favoritest favorites! She played our first-ever SXSW party!

And she'll always hold a special place in our heart!

We recently got to sit down with Robyn and talked about her VERY exciting plans for 2011, working with a choreographer to develop some of the fierce moves she's been rocking on tour, going back into the studio, what she likes to do on her time off, her country house in Sweden, and much more!

Check out our exclusive interview (above)!"

Another easiepiecie D.I.Y. for the Robyn fans by moi; the Cut Out Levi's jacket. The white turtleneck we made, earrings vintage, rings from ZANZLÖZA ZMYCKEN. Curry colored nailpolish is AMERICAN APPAREL. Next photo; once again she wears the custom-made HERNANDEZ CORNET body suit - good to let it talk in!
