about 2faced1.com

"2FACED1 is a visionary digital network,  a loose collective with members in Europe, Africa and North America, bound together by what we call ‘stereotypophobia’."

Stereotypophobia

“It is all about critical questioning of what identity really is. Would you be the same person in another context? Does society have certain expectations on you based on traditional parameters like class, gender, color, sexual orientation, religious beliefs and so on? And how much do these expectations affect your so-called self? Every forward thinking person are aware of those things, its a gift which  also make you relate to other peoples struggles.”

LIPSYNCH CINDY

Post date Fri 1 Oct 2010 2:29 AM

Well it started of by Spoek telling me I had shit on my upper lip and he actually licked his thumb and tried to smudge it of, as a caring jewish granny but it didnt go no where. I had grown a Cindy; a mole (spot)

Well it wasn't enough cause you can only see it if you are in my face and I dont want no one there so for the Hush (Iggy Iggy) video I went and got som pen help and maked it up. I was proud of my Cindy and wanted to show her to the world so I helped her out. Look:

Gn1

gn2

I love my Cindy and I don't push her on a daily basis but then I did my first ever interview and there were two big pictures of me in the paper and the one pic was in the regular section and the bigger one in the Culture section. Now the smaller one shows that someone else actually put a Cindy on me and MOVED her to my chin!!! It's cool, they don't photoshop me but they give me a Cindy, I respect that and I am grateful.
Someone knew that mami wants a mole. Look:

gnn

With my Cindy I am still gonna fake til I make it. Now let's all cream in our pants to The Mole Mama, Cindy Crawford

cind

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these photos of her and I would give a pinky toe for that bra. She is to me 90's B.A.B.E personified. Cindy with big hair would make me scream as a kid and after the 90's super model posse I don't give a shit and don't know shit about models.  There is no such thing as super models today, they grew up to be on trial for blood diamonds (Naomi) and sell Birkenstocks or wahevah on TV (Cindy).

LEBOGANG RASETHABA - SINO

Post date Mon 27 Sep 2010 10:15 AM

*Sino tells the story of 2 Africans in Beijing. Through their interactions, the story gives an insight into the lives of the African diaspora in Beijing and explores themes such as xenophobia and re-settlement. Sino is part 1 of a trilogy. Part 2 of the trilogy (awake) is in pre-production.*
MIN BESTIS, LEBOGANG HAS ALWAYS BEEN A VERY TALENTED AND FUNNY WRITER...DENSELY DESCRIPTIVE, SOMETIMES DROPPING THE WEIRDEST AND MOST OBSCURE METAPHORES...SOMETIMES BEING THE ONLY WRITER I HAVE EVER READ TO ARTICULATE GROWING UP THE WAY WE DID IN THIS 'NEW SOUTH AFRICA'.
HE'S NOW IN BEIJING CHINA, DOING HIS MASTERS IN FILMS. HE'S BUILDING HIS FILM MAKING MUSCLES...AND THEY ARE GETTING BIG AND VEINY. THIS WAS THE FIRST SHORT FILM HE MADE...SINO. I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT OUR RESPECTIVE ROADS...FORWARD FORWARD FORWARD!

PS. HE ALSO SHOT AND EDITED GWABABA

LADY DOGGS

Post date Thu 23 Sep 2010 10:31 PM

There was a time I did my hair under the influence of Snoop Dogg "Doggystyle". I know now I looked like shit but I felt like Cordozar Calvin Broadus gone yugo girl wannabe west coast latina. Still, today I am obsessed with khakis, wifebeaters and that that tiny string of hair glued on to the forehead. I was bored of my face once and did that type of hair with some cheap cheap gel and I had blisters on my forehead for a week, I looked like somebody had chewed on my forehead. What I still think is that Snoop Dogg gone Lady Dogg is an amazing style and look, just look at how amazing the ladies look in Pop Magazine wearing Adam Kimmels Snoop Dogg influenced collection

Plus I LOVE this video of the shoot. It's my all time favorite image quality, home madeish. I wanna do!!! Image from here.

SOUTH AFRICAN DEMOCRACY AT RISK

Post date Thu 23 Sep 2010 12:52 AM

MY BRAIN SKIPPED AROUND MY HEAD WHEN I WAS IN SOUTH AFRICA A MONTH AGO WATCHING TV AND REALISING WHAT A FUCKED UP COUNTRY I SPEND A HUGE PORTION OF MY TIME IN...HOW RIFE CORRUPTION IS AND HOW THE CRAZY GOVERNMENT OF EX FREEDOM FIGHTERS TURNED DESPOTS IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE LIKE THE OLD REGIME THEY SO HEARTILY FOUGHT. PF.

South Africa's democracy is at risk -- a draconian and unconstitutional new secrecy Bill is in Parliament and a Media Tribunal could be endorsed by the ANC Council this week, muzzling the media and letting the security agencies operate without accountability.

The secrecy measures in the "Protection of Information" Bill and the "Media Appeals Tribunal" proposal threaten press freedom enshrined in the Constitution and will block the media acting in the public interest to expose corruption and abuse of power.

Only massive pressure from citizens across South Africa can stir the ANC to reverse these proposals and preserve hard-won freedoms. Let's make the citizen's outcry too loud to ignore. Sign the urgent petition, and then forward this message to everyone. The petition will be delivered to the ANC Council meeting.

To the ANC Council, the South African Government and legislators:
As citizens across South Africa, we call on you to protect our Constitutional commitments to accountability, freedom of information and the press, and to reverse the secrecy measures in the "Protection of Information" Bill and the "Media Appeals Tribunal". We urge you to ensure that intelligence agencies are held to account by public scrutiny, that secrets with a bearing on national security are determined by an independent panel appointed by Parliament and limited to the security sector, and that legitimate whistleblowers are always protected. We ask that any media tribunal be established as an independent body that is self regulatory. Our democracy was hard-won, and we will not give it up lightly.

Sign the petition now

SPOEK MATHAMBO ON BSTV...BIGSHOT NOT BULLSHIT

Post date Thu 23 Sep 2010 12:38 AM

THEY SAY:

Brandishing a hybrid dance floor sound he’s dubbed township tech, South African Spoek Mathambo’s profile got a significant shot in the arm this year by way of heaps of international press and blog accolades he received well before he released his acclaimed debut album, Mshini Wam. Mathambo has been in the mix for years in Johannesburg, making beats, mix tapes and tunes long before the eyes of the world focused on him and his homeland who played host to the recent World Cup, so it was no surprise that his party-perfect album lived up to the hype.

After recently profiling Mathambo, Big Shot caught up with the man himself last week at Bryant Park in New York City. A little worn out from playing DJ gigs in Los Angeles and New York City, and suffering from an understandable case of sensory overload (“all those lights in Times Square freaked my brain out!”), in this exclusive BSTV interview Mathambo talks about Mshini Wam, first impressions of America, his current live show and new single “Don’t Mean to Be Rude.”
